Our yulifers have done so much good in the past year, and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.
It's that time of year again: lights are twinkling, stockings are filled up, and Mariah Carey's voice is the soundtrack to our lives for the next couple of weeks. Just before the decade is ending, we wanted to wrap up the year with a review of what yulife and our yulifers have achieved in the past 12 months, and what's a better way to finish off 2019 than with some interesting data on the usage of our app?
Challenging yourselves
This year, a whopping 160,000 challenges were taken on the yulife app. More challenges happen during the week, especially morning challenges, but who doesn't love a lie-in on the weekend? yulifers get their morning steps in on the commute to work, but Thursdays are our official short stroll days for earning streak bonuses. 60% of employees download the app once it's purchased by their employer, and 41% remain active even 5 months later.
Keeping zen
Our partnership with meditation app Calm has made a lot of people more mindful. Meditation activity peaks before work during the commute, picks up through the morning, then rises again between 9pm and 11pm as people settle their minds before sleep. Unlike walking challenges, meditation challenges stay consistent throughout the week. The average yulifer who tries meditation meditates 124 minutes a week, that's 960,000 mindful minutes across 2019.
Muscle and mind
People were 11% more active on days they engaged with the app: 7,224 average steps on days the app was opened, compared with 6,502 when it wasn't. With 40% daily engagement on the app, that's a lot of people kept moving in 2019. Altogether, yulifers walked 2.27 billion steps this year, roughly 1,140,000 miles, about 45 times around the globe. One member walked 6,962,878 steps alone.
Partnerships with MoveGB, Hussle, Go Sweat, and Garmin helped members build a more rounded workout routine and track their progress along the way.
Rewarded for love
yulifers earned 3,700,000 yucoin this year. Most went on Amazon gift cards, followed closely by ASOS, mainly redeemed on Fridays. Tesco gift cards were mostly redeemed on Fridays and Sundays for the weekly shop, while M&S gift cards were used steadily through the week, mostly for ready meals and lunch deals. Some yulifers used their yucoin to donate to charity through For Good Causes. Peak redemption times were 9am-12pm, then 4pm and 8.30pm. Our discount partnership with Urban (25% off treatments and massages) also proved extremely popular.
Welcoming 2020
After a successful 2019, we can't wait for our yulifers to see what's coming in 2020, including cycling challenges and new lifestyle rewards like cinema gift cards. We're starting off this decade with a bang.
